Real Musical Experience:  The Field Trips

Twice a year the students are taken on a field trip to a concert or other musical venue to hear and see
musicians perform or learn first-hand about one of the many facets of playing music.  Often, students will have the opportunity to talk directly with a performer or music expert and learn directly about their profession.

Romantic Rachmaninoff Winter 2017

For this fantastic romantic concert, we learned the secret of what makes music "romantic," what to say and not to say to yourself when learning music, and were able to talk to the star of the show--Mr. Andrew Staupe, concert pianist.  Click on the video to see it and then watch the slide show!

Classical Mystery Tour  Fall 2015
Hey everyone--meet The Beatles! --or the next best thing: a look-alike, sound-alike band that played with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, "The Classical Mystery Tour."  They played the exact arrangements the Beatles themselves made in their original recordings from the 1960's.  Many selections that the Beatles solely recorded in the studio were heard live by this Beatlemania and MSO combo--with complete instrumentation--for the first time!
Piano Craft 2014
An internationally known company, Piano Craft specializes in the restoration and rebuilding of great hand made pianos.  We toured their remarkable facility where the workers go to great lengths to make their instruments like new again.  Imagine getting the chance to play on classic model pianos, refurbished and rebuilt, that sold for over $100,000!
Art Walk 2010
We brought our guitars, music stands, keyboard and extention cords to play on the street for the public during Hagerstown's annual spring Art Walk in the Downtown Arts District.
